A handy guide to some of the terrible things the Mail has printed since 1924.
This barely scratches the surface, though, I find it hard to believe they didn’t do anything terrible between 1956 and 1984.

This misses out a ridiculous amount. Did you know the first ever usage of the term ‘illegal immigrant’ was in the Daily Mail, referring to Jewish refugees fleeing from Nazi occupied Europe.
This was at the same time they had their infamous ‘hurrah for the blackshirts’ headline, supporting Oswald Moseley’s fascist group in Britain.
Fuck the Daily Mail so hard, it’s literally the single worst thing about this country.

What I don’t like though, is this kind of leftist eye-rolling shoulder shrugging that goes on with regards to the Daily Mail - like it’s just a nasty fact of life that we all know is horrible but hey, that’s the Daily Mail for you…like it’s all a big joke
It’s not a joke, they are actively ruining lives here, inciting murders… they have actual blood on their hands and there will be more. There should be a long running and multifaceted campaign to physically destroy the fucking Daily Mail…It should be a constant target for every nasty tactic in the book. It’s one capitalist enterprise, I feel like taking it out by any means necessary is not an impossible goal.

Many of the actions by which men have become rich are far more harmful to the community than the obscure crimes of poor men, yet they go unpunished because they do not interfere with the existing order. If the power of the community is to be brought to bear to prevent certain classes of actions through the agency of the criminal law, it is as necessary that these actions should really be those which are harmful to the community, as it is that the treatment of criminals should be freed from the conception of guilt and inspired by the same spirit as is shown in the treatment of disease. — Bertrand Russell | Proposed Roads to Freedom: Anarchism, Socialism, and Syndicalism  (via cultureofresistance)

Collective movements for social justice do not gain traction through niceness. American women did not gain the right to vote by skipping down Pennsylvania Avenue while whistling cute songs about suffrage: they picketed, they marched, they yelled, they were arrested. Abusive partners and rapists will not be stopped by women having heart-to-hearts with their violators over coffee, because ghosts cannot talk and broken fingers cannot lift a latte. The patriarchy cannot be shattered by good vibes. In order to bring about change, old and oppressive structures must be destroyed. Destruction is not negative if what will grow from the rubble is something that will create a safer, healthier, stronger society.

Feminism is Not “The F Word” — Seventh Grove

Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer said she doesn’t identify as a feminist because feminism is “too negative.” Here’s what I have to say about that…
